I am a very active runner.
I run everyday, with training 3-4 times a week.
I’ve had my running shoes for almost a year now, they’re worn out, with them worn can they hurt my feet or slow me down in races?

I’m not a foot doctor but I do know I have a very hard time adjusting to new ones. I have even stumbled.

It can be kind of hard to adjust to new shoes, but they are definitely worth it. Worn out shoes are one of the leading causes in shin splints. They are not fun, I would know from experience. To get used to new shoes, just walk around in them a little and run short distances in them. Get new ones now!

I love breaking in a new pair of soles. I used to think it was cool to have an old pair of runners, but the truth is that they can affect your stride and the way your foot strikes the ground. You got to keep your rubber fresh. with your frequency of training, depending on your weight, you should change those bad dogs every 3-4 months

Shoes are a lot more important than you think. They won’t always slow you down but running in very worn out shoes is risky because you have such a high chance of injury. You’re only suppose to use the same pair of shoes every 500km-800km. 500km if you’re always running in rain, snow and bad conditions and 800km if you’re running indoors or on a clean track all the time.

worn our shoes are very bad to have, time to get a new pair!
heres why:
1) the bottom gets worn and theres no more friction so you can be slipping and you dont get as much grip
2) you have no more support left to you could easily get injured
new shoes are important because you need the support! if you are on a cross country team or a track team, get new shoes about every 200-225 or even 250 miles depending on how hard you work out. for just someone running and getting in shape, you probably can get a little more use out of them, but one never knows! get a new pair to avoid injuries!! =]
